St Mary’s Church, Hemyock, marked Sea Sunday at the weekend.

Sea Sunday is a date in July when churches recognise the work done by the Mission to Seafarers.
There are about 1.5 million seafarers across the world whose life can be lonely, dangerous and uncertain.
Recent news bulletins have shown this with reports about the closing of the Strait of Hormuz.
To support and recognise the work of the mission, St Mary’s began the service of Holy Communion on Sea Sunday with the hymn Eternal Father Strong to Save and also included Will Your Anchor Hold.
There was a small display remembering the grandfather of a congregation member, as well as a cousin, with both men spending many years at sea.
The service was taken by the Rev John Stone who had retired to the village some years ago.
David Bawler, Churchwarden, thanked him for his work and friendship within the Upper Culm Mission Community and congratulated John on the 40th anniversary of his Ordination, which was met with warm applause.
