Building a major £1m extension at the Nynehead Court care home near Wellington may have been a factor in creating financial difficulties for major West Country builders C S Williams of Taunton. Local tradesmen who worked on the project say they face unpaid bills as sub-contractors and some may lose thousands of pounds.
“I am a local contractor who has lost the best part of £8000 due to this, sadly.,” said one. “Many others around Wellington will be in for similar amounts too,
leaving many skilled local people without jobs and many small local firms substantially out of pocket with unpaid invoices. Very sad times.
“I don’t know the details, heard directly from the Contracts Manager late Fri PM. Albert Goodman, accountants, so I hear are dealing with creditors etc.”
There was no reply at C S Williams main number and messages were unreturned. At Albert Goodman a staff member refused to comment and referred all enquiries to the insolvency partner, who was out of the office at the time of writing.
C S Williams has worked on many historic buildings including Wells Bishops Palace and Tytesfield manor. Details of the Nynehead extension are available here:
