The glorious weather attracted a large number of visitors to the annual summer fete of St Mary’s Church, Hemyock, which made more than £1,550.
It was opened by the Rev Vanessa Cole, Rector, who thanked the organisers David Bawler and Patricia Fuller for their hard work and hoped everyone would have a pleasant afternoon supporting the stallholders.
Before joining the long queue for refreshments, people enjoyed browsing the various stalls which included plants, sweet and savoury, nearly new, raffles, water or wine and preserves while children enjoyed trying to ‘Splat the Rat’.
Music was supplied by Back at Nicks throughout the afternoon and interest was shown in the stalls from Hemyock History Group and Hemyock Day.
The Poppy Group had once again decorated the church and churchyard with beautiful crocheted works of art which were greatly admired while the very popular Charity Shop was open at the Church Room, making a further £165.
