Police have condemned rock attacks in Rockwell Green which left three people injured and numerous vehicles damaged.
They issued the following statement today: “We were called at 5.45pm on Saturday following reports of rocks being thrown at vehicles and cyclists in Exeter Road in Rockwell Green, Wellington.
“Officers attended the scene as soon as they were available and completed an area tour but found no trace. The neighbourhood policing team is aware and is continuing to make enquiries.
“Luckily, on this occasion, there were only in minor injuries. However, this type of reckless behaviour could result in serious injuries.
“If you witnessed anything out of the ordinary, or have any information which could aid the investigation, please call 101 and quote reference number 5222188274.”
The most serious incident involved a taxi from Archie’s Cabs (pictured), run by Paul Hickinbottom who said the three people in the rear seat all suffered cuts after a rock was hurled through the window on the passenger side.
“We found the rock in the back of the vehicle – if you saw the mark it left in the headrest, it could have been a lot more serious.”
He said the damage caused to the various vehicles must run into thousands of pounds.
“What has got to happen before something is done? Does someone need to be killed?”
