Transition Town Wellington’s apple harvesting began on Saturday with an afternoon of juicing using hand presses at Swains Lane Nature Reserve.
The event coincided with the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the reserve.
Over the next two weeks, TTW’s Apple Juice Project aims to convert apples into apple juice which can be sold in various outlets – including Ruxtons in High Street – to provide the environmental organisation with vital funds.
This is the programme to which everyone is invited:
- Tuesday, September 22nd (2pm – 4pm): Apple picking at an orchard in Milverton
- Wednesday, September 23rd (2pm – 4pm): Apple picking at an orchard at Spring Grove (see the Transition Town Wellington Calendar for details)
- Thursday, September 24th (2pm – 4pm): Apple picking at an orchard at Rewe Farm
- Monday, September 28th (2pm – 4pm): Apple picking at Swains Lane Nature Reserve
- Wednesday, September 30th (9am – 5pm): Pressing Day at The Greenhouse, Golden Hill, Wiveliscombe TA4 2NY
