Nick Girone-Maddocks and Nicholas Wilkinson from the Gibbins Richards office in Wellington were half of a successful GR team who completed a gruelling challenge on the Brecon Beacons last weekend. The ‘Race The Sun’ event, in aid of Action medical Research for Children, is a tough tri-event challenge which involves cycling 60 miles, climbing Pen Y Fan and canoeing around a reservoir.
The team’s start time was at 7:05, and the aim is to get around the event before sun down. They were extremely happy with their placing – 21st out of 76 teams, finishing the event in about 8 ½ hours.
Team Captain Ben Grant, who is the Manager at Gibbins Richards’ Bridgwater office, said it was a great effort: “We really worked as a team, with all of us having strengths and weaknesses but all pulling together to get the best out of each other”
He continued; “It was a really tough event – some very demanding hills and very stiff competition from other teams, but we did much better than our predictions and are really chuffed with our sponsorship of over £1,000 to Action for Medical Research”
