Huge congratulations to everyone involved in the wonderful Wellington Carnival on Saturday night.
Thousands of people lined the streets to watch the glittering procession which featured some of the best floats in the history of the event.
Among others taking part were majorette troupes, walking entries and even a Folk Parade organised by Wellington Folk & Custom.
There was even an an international flavour with visitors from our twin town of Torres Vedras in Portugal.
Representatives from ASSIM Associação De Intercâmbio Municipal – Torres Twinning Association – attended along with Roberta’s Carnival Club and their entry, Swarming in From Portugal.
After the successful Carnival Motor Show took place earlier in the day, the evening got off to a poignant start with a tribute to Carnival stalwart Josephine Chave.
As the entries lined up, there was a two-minute silence at 7pm to remember her, culminating in two firework rockets being let off.
Then the procession moved off from Rockwell Green, making its way through the town centre before ending at the Longforth Farm roundabout.
Afterwards, a Carnival After Party took place at the Conservative Club.
