It was a mixed day for Wellington RFC yesterday (Saturday).
The Chiefs travelled down to Okehampton where they were beaten 29pts-nil in Tribute South West Regional Two.
There were a number of changes to the side and, although they played quite well, they couldn’t get over the line.
Meanwhile, the 2nds were superb in defeating Weston 2nds 53pts-34 at the Athletic Ground.
Weston’s heavy and older pack caused problems at the start but the fitness of Wellingtons young squad (including seven ex-Colts) came to the fore and eight tries, many from distance, delighted the large crowd.4
Notable performances camefrom Tom Slade, Danny Goverd and Scott Davey while the team was superbly led by the evergreen pair of Andrew Bellamy and Tim Jenkinson.
The result leaves the 2nds clear at the top of Somerset 3 South.
