Wellington Carnival is in urgent need of new recruits to help organise and run the event. Without the help of volunteers the future of the Carnival – one of the town’s biggest and most popular street events – is in jeopardy.
To attract more support the committee is inviting all those who might be interested in becoming involved to a meeting at Wellington Football Club on Sunday 17th February at 2pm.
Carnival Secretary Louise Brierley said, “We are desperately looking for volunteers to keep this traditional event running in our town. Please come along to the meeting to find out more. We look forward to seeing you.”
Wellington Carnival funds are distributed around the town’s groups and organisations each year. Proceeds from the 2018 event amounted to over £3,000, all of which will be donated. Wellington Carnival Committee also organises the annual Street Fair which raises funds to run the Carnival.
