Carol Conti was the lucky winner of the prize draw held by Wellington Farmers Market – a hamper of goodies from each of the stallholders at Wellington’s twice monthly market. In fact there were so many items two boxes were needed to hold them all. The prizes included a basket of plants, smoked fish, venison, fresh veg, an assortment of pies and pasties, lemon cake, sourdough bread, olives, cheese, eggs, jam, chutney and topped off with a posy of flowers.
Mrs Conti has lived in Wellington for 2 years and is well known in the area as she worked at Wellington Post Office. Prior to that she lived in West Buckland where her husband was Sub-Postmaster at West Buckland PO.
“I think it is a wonderful prize – I’ve never won anything before. We shop regularly at the Farmers Market and think the local produce is fantastic.” Commenting on the relocation of the Market to High Street and the Wellington Community Centre in White Hart Lane she said “The new location is a big improvement and much more convenient.” Mrs Conti was presented with her prize by Chairman of Wellington Farmers Market, Julian Fox.
The Farmers Market are getting a £600 grant from Tauton Deane to help pay for some new gazebos and promotional banners.
“We are funding a total of £600 from our rural grants pot- 50% of the total cost. I hope you will agree this is a really worthwhile project and we wish them every success,” commented TDBC Economic Development Officer Hattie Winter.
