Christmas Fayre boosts church funds

The Christmas Fayre in aid of St Mary’s Church, Hemyock, with Culm Davy Chapel, raised more than £1,600 for church funds.

With morning rain being replaced by sunshine, the event drew numerous visitors throughout the afternoon.

Stalls included Guess the Weight of a beautifully decorated Christmas cake, a tombola with every ticket winning a prize, cakes and savouries, preserves and children’s crafts and face painting.

Bottles wrapped in festive paper won entrants either wine or water which proved popular, as did the refreshments.

Following the evening Parade of the Lights Brigade, the church star was lit and a quarter peal was rung to welcome the new Rector, the Rev Vanessa Cole.
