Wellington Bowling Club’s C team celebrated an excellent home victory over Burnham C in the West Somerset Bowls League, winning two of the rinks and drawing the third.
David Harrison, Kevin Austin and Shirley Samuel were chasing the game early on but, after 12 ends, the sides were level on eight shots each. The Wellington threesome then pulled away for a well deserved victory by 17 shots to nine.
Andrew Copping, Phil Wiggan and Alan Samuel had a tight game. With one end to play, they led 18–17 but their opponents managed one shot on the last to draw 18– 18.
On the final rink, Jane Hayes, Alan Every and Andrew Baird played exceptionally well, winning 27–18 to give Wellington overall victory by 59 shots to 45.
