The town council has decided to award grants in of support various local organisations and events over the summer. Wellington Churches Together receives a grant of £500 towards the cost of the Big Tent, an annual children’s holiday Bible Club based in a marquee. The event runs for three days during August. The aim is to “present Christianity and the stories of the bible to children and young people in a fun, action packed way”.
Wellington Whirlwinds Trampoline Club has recently enjoyed great success and will shortly be going to the British Championships. The cost of taking part was estimated to be £1,500. Fund raising is being undertaken and parents were being asked to make a contribution of £500. The council will give the Whirlwinds £500 if they can raise £1000 themselves.
