Somerset County Council’s Highways Department is set to introduce new parking restrictions in Mantle Street and Trinity Close.
Double yellow lines have already been painted on the roads, as per to the map (below).
The council do not need town council approval – although councillors are ‘statutory consultees’.
A Somerset County Council spokesperson said: “In this case, the lines have already been painted and we are currently processing a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) to ensure restrictions can be enforced.
“This is happening retrospectively, due to an oversight when the original request was submitted. Lines will be refreshed in areas where there is deterioration.”
The consultation period on the proposal runs until June 30th – so if anyone wants to object, or comment, they have until then to do so. The wording on the Order is are follows:
“Persons wishing to object to the proposed Order may do so by sending their representations in writing, quoting reference number KT19052022 , to Somerset County Council, Traffic Management, County Hall, Taunton TA1 4DY or by email to trafficmanagement@somerset.
