A Wellington man who used a dumbbell to batter another man during a pre-arranged fight has been found guilty of the attack.
Peter Milne, 33, from Kelway road, attacked Simon Bell, 31, at Tiverton’s Pannier Market, Devon, in November 2011.
Mr Bell spent 15 days in intensive care at Derriford Hospital, in Plymouth, following the incident. The victim suffered severe head injuries in the attack and was in an induced coma at Plymouth’s Derriford Hospital.
Exeter Crown Court found Milne guilty of wounding and having the dumbbell as an offensive weapon. Milne, who used to live in Tiverton, denied causing grievous bodily harm (GBH), wounding and having an offensive weapon. He will be sentenced on Friday.
