Our High Street was a hive of activity yesterday (Saturday) as Wellington’s annual food and drink festival returned with new organisers.
eat:Festivals confirmed in February that, after ten years, they would no longer be running the popular event.
It was taken over by Maxine Price and Charlotte Beatty, co-organisers of Wellington Independent Market, and they are to be congratulated on a wonderful first event.
There were more than 20 food and drink stalls, along with others offering a wide range of products.
Local organisations were well represented including the St John Ambulance, Wellington Community Food, Transition Town Wellington and Wellington Museum.
Our local MP, Gideon Amos, came along to chat with constituents while there was also table top sale in the Kings Arms Community Hub.
Maxine and Charlotte said: “We were delighted with the first Wellington Independent Food and Drink Festival.
“We’d like to thank everyone who supported us, particularly the stallholders who included a number of new names.
“Also thanks to our sponsors, SB Bakes and The Nook & Cranny.”
The pair are now busy preparing for their next independent market, also in High Street, on Saturday, September 19th.
