Christmas at the Wellesley – the annual event to showcase some of the town’s talent – again proved to be hugely popular with virtually every seat sold for the single performance today (Sunday).
The audience were presented with both individuals and groups of performers with Wellington Silver Band and its Intermediate Group adding their own musical sparkle to the whole show.
The acts were hosted confidently by comperes James and Lois, armed with quite a few Christmas cracker jokes and plenty of youthful encouragement.
Community carols invited the audience to add their own voices to the programme along with those from Wellington Pantomime Group, Wellington Operatic Society’s Touring Group, We Shall Sing and Court Fields School.
Performances by fine vocalists Ian Jones and Molly Lock both drew warm applause and the young (and very young) members of Somerset Youth Theatre charmed everyone with their storytelling.
The event ended with Lesley Darlow’s Christmas monologue and Ministry of Moves – and more community carols.
Proceeds from the show will go to the 1st Wellington Scout Group to help with the cost of their new minibus – members of the group acted as Front of House staff.
A collection at the end of the show will support the Wellington Community Hub.
As a taster of the next production on the stage at the Wellesley, Wellington Pantomime Group’s representatives delivered an enticing and full-blooded excerpt of Sleeping Beauty. The pantomime is currently in rehearsal and performances are from Wednesday January 28th to Sunday, February 1st 2026.
