Wellington Hospital League of Friends Fête on Saturday 2nd June in the Scout Hall resulted in the League raising nearly £2,000 – on a par with last year’s total according to the Friends’ spokesperson, Diane Graham. The funds will go towards buying equipment for the hospital which is currently open for outpatient and physiotherapy treatment even though the inpatient wards are closed.
There is no further news of the outcome of recent interviews for new staff at the hospital which would allow all its beds to be reopened. The League of Friends are ‘hopeful’ that the issue of staffing is resolved shortly.
The number of people supporting the Fête was a clear sign of the community’s interest in its long-term future as a service to the town. Goods – including an impressive array of plants – were on sale and refreshments provided by The League of Friends.
