Transition Town Wellington are inviting everyone to join them in sessions of community gardening (no previous experience is necessary) at various sites over the coming week.
Here are the dates:
Tuesday, 25th November from 9am to 12noon: Brambling at Longacre.
This autumn and winter task is a methodical and peaceful job, carefully pruning back the brambles. We do this on rotation to keep on top of them, with areas also left for wildlife.
This is a low impact task and can be enjoyed by people with some physical limitations.

Friday, 28th November from 9am to 12noon: Community gardening at Fox’s Field.
In this session we will start to remove the wire mesh from the fence and roll it back ready to surround the new area.
As this area will then be exposed we need to put up a couple of mini fences around the hostasmso the rabbits don’t eat them!
If it’s dry weather and there’s a big enough team, we’ll mulch some paths mand create some new planting beds.
If it’s raining we’ll focus on moving the hay from the new area.

Tuesday, 2nd December from 9am to 12noon: Pruning at Longacre.
This date is perfect according to the biodynamic calendar for pruning apple and pear trees to encourage new growth so we’ll be bringing the kit to Longacre for tree pruning.
If anyone is interested then we can do this as a team but, if not, then there are two other jobs to do: either clearing grass from around fruit bushes in the top field or continuing to prune brambles in the dip.
