A busy weekend at Wellington Bowling Club saw no fewer than 11 competition finals.
In the Aussie Pairs, Julian Street and Graham Brown won a very close battle against Bill Warnett and Tony Gibson by 21 shots to 19.
The Ladies’ Championship Singles saw Pauline Wadham play extremely well against strong opposition from June Anderson, before coming through to win by three shots, 21–18.
In the Amy Stanton Pairs, Ian Hollingsworth and Lisa Dart became champions when they beat Steve and Carol Horrill 27–11.
Julian Street became the Men’s Two Wood champion as he fought a good battle against Barry Cutler to win 17-11.
In the Ladies Two Wood, June Anderson bowled very well and came through to win against Diana Dagg, 16-8.
The Open final saw Jay Merrell playing brilliantly against very strong opposition from Graham Brown to win 21-17.
In the Men’s Championship Singles, Julian Street took on Tony Gibson and played well to come through with a comfortable victory by 22 shots to 11 for his third finals success.
Barry Cutler became the New Bowlers’ champion when he won comfortably against Andy Copping, 21-6.
Paul Kelly had a close battle against Steve Horrill but came through in the end to win the Men’s Handicap Singles 21–16.
Pauline Wadham won her second final of the competition against strong opposition from Diana Dagg to become Ladies’ Handicap champion by 21 shots to ten.
In the Men’s Pairs Handicap, Andy Pearce and Paul Kelsall had a very good win against Ian Hollingsworth and Timothy Knowles by 18 shots to seven.
The event was well organised by Competitions Secretary Janet Moore and was enjoyed by everyone who came along to support.
