John Walker, is heading for the stage this weekend with his band, JWB. His ‘Anthology’ concert is playing two shows at Wellington Arts Centre on Saturday 13th July at 2.30pm and 7.30 pm.
The band – John Walker, Tony Woollard, Andy Bearne, Geoff Redstone, Hannah Green and Geoff Cross – raises funds for worthy causes. Since the original trio – JW3 – got together in 2009, the band has raised, in John’s words, “somewhere in the region of £2,500 for St Margaret’s Hospice, Macmillan, SSAFA and Alzheimer’s”. This year proceeds of the two performances will go to the Children’s Hospice South West.
The ‘Anthology’ concert promises to be a showcase of “favourite songs”, appealing to everyone who likes good music played well and, given the musical skills of the band – all of them long-standing contributors to Wellington’s fine arts’ scene -, it will be thoroughly enjoyable entertainment, and all in a good cause too! Tickets are on sale at Cloud 9 in Fore Street and cost £6.
The band are also playing at the Wellington Park on Sunday 14th July for Friends of the Park.
