The ladies from Wellington Bowling Club lost narrowly to Ilminster in the quarter-finals of the Fear Cup.
It was a close-run affair with Wellington winning two of the three rinks and ending up only ten shots down.
Pauline Wadham, Diana Dagg, June Anderson and Lynda Manning had a tight battle and were 11–11 at the halfway point before pulling ahead for a fine win, 20–15.
Debbie Lane, Lisa Dart, Angie Moore and Gill Groves also had a close game and, with one to play, were 14– 13 down. However, a three on the last gave them a well-deserved 16–14 victory.
Janet Moore, Wendy Scott, Shirley Samuel and Chrissie Willcocks did their best but the Ilminster side won comfortably 22–5 to ensure overall victory, 51–41.
