Wellington Lions Club have now collected over 5000 pairs of unwanted spectacles, reports Lions committee member Mike Crew. These are recycled and used in various parts of the world where such items are difficult to obtain.
Any unwanted spectacles can be left at MJC at 22 South Street or the Old Sale Rooms in Mantle Street. The money raised on recycling the unwanted or broken frames amounts to many thousands of pounds and to date £1250 has been donated to local individuals with extreme sight problems
