August was another incredibly busy month for the dedicated team at Wellington Fire Station.
They report as follows …
Second month in a row hitting 64 shouts, taking us to 312 call outs total so far.
This month has seen Liam and Charlie pass their HVP initial which was fortunate as they were needed to support back-to-back HVP deployments.
The dry weather meant more fires and more demand on the availability of the station. Supporting the deployments away as well as business as usual at home, we were there.
Devon and Somerset Rescue Service want to thank all the employers who have continued to release firefighters from their places of work to respond as well as being understanding for night shouts and 48/72 hour deployments away.
During August the station had:
- 16 x Fires
- 18 x Fires in the open
- 15 x Standby
- 5 x Alarms
- 3 x Gain entry
- 1 x Smell of burning
- 1 x Hazardous Materials (Gas)
- 5 x HVP and reliefs
With the rain having arrived, there should be a reduction in grass fires. However please remain vigilant and have precautions in place if you are planning a small fire.
If you are planning a controlled burn, please contact our control room on 03333990014.
