Nursery provision in Wellington is set to expand in September when Wellington Prep School opens its new nursery unit.
The school has purchased the former Salvation Army Hall on the edge of the school’s campus and work will soon begin to reconfigure the building as a brand new nursery unit for two year olds. It will be open for 50 weeks of the year with places for up to 20 children.
The building has been the headquarters of the Salvation Army in Wellington for many years but will now be adapted to provide both indoor and outside learning and play space. The access point will be changed to prevent additional traffic in Scott’s Lane.
Headmaster of Wellington Prep School, Mr Adam Gibson, said: “Its location is ideal for us. The building has an exciting future for the school and the town. From our parents’ point of view being able to access year-round care is a great option, especially as the number of families in the town is continuing to grow. The number of registrations we have already received suggests that there will be a great deal of demand for places.”
Mr Jim Pendleton, Estates Manager at the school, said: “We’re in touch with local suppliers and manufacturers who will be working with us to develop this wonderful building. The space inside and out will be developed to be among the best of its kind.”
