Councillors have once again voted against a scheme to demolish the derelict Hayman’s Mill at Westford and build eight houses on the site. Local residents turned out to the town council meeting to voice their opposition.
“This development will be between two blind corners on a narrow road and, without a play area for Westford Grange housing, you see kids dashing into the road all the time,” said Angela Boyd. “I don’t think the architect can even have been to see this site.”
Several councillors stressed that they supported a housing use for the Hayman’s Mill property but at a lower density. “I share the residents’ concerns and I don’t think this scheme suits the needs of the area,” said Cllr Andy Govier.
