Wellington Operatic Society is launching its next big production – the wonderfully appealing show, ‘Annie’ – and calls on local actors, singers, dancers and backstage crew to join in.
Opsoc’s Nancy Powell-Brace said, “We’re pleased to announce our 2019 musical, ‘Annie’. The public launch for the show will take place on December 10th at 7.00 p.m. at the Wellington Arts Centre, Eight Acre Lane.
“Everyone is welcome to come along and find out more about the show – and there’s a lot more to it than just the orphans!
“We welcome new members at all times and for this show there are lots of roles for young, older, male and female performers so everyone will have an opportunity to be involved.
“If you would like to be involved on stage, back stage, set building or with costumes, please come along at 7.00 p.m on 10th December at Wellington Arts Centre. As a revered member of the Wellington community once said ‘Those who get involved are always the ones smiling!’”
‘Annie’ is one of the musical stage’s great comedy dramas and tells the story of Little Orphan Annie in New York during the Great Depression. It is a moving and powerful story and has a host of big songs and musical numbers to deliver. It is hugely popular on stages both big and small and has been the subject of Oscar nominated films in 1982 and 2014.
