The Wellington Monument Race today (Sunday) has officially sold out with a record 300 runners set to take on the challenging 10k route.
Again hosted by Taunton Athletic Club, it starts at 10am from the Catherine Wheel pub in Hemyock.
Competitors will follow the familiar course, climbing steadily to the iconic Monument before circling it and returning along the same road to finish at Hemyock Primary School.
All finishers will receive a medal at the finish area, where refreshments will be available. Runners will also have mulled wine, a mince pie, an official chip time and finish line photo.
Facilities at the school will be open on the day, although toilet availability there will be limited. To support runners, additional toilets will be available at The Pavilion (Longmead), the Parish Hall, and the Church Rooms (Cornhill).
Organisers are also asking participants and spectators to respect residents when parking, and to allow extra time to find suitable parking around the village.
They say: “We are immensely grateful to the residents who have supported the race, the wonderful volunteers, race sponsors, and all the amazing runners.
“Excitement is building, the trophies, medals and bibs are ready and the committee can’t wait to see you all on Sunday!”
