Wellington Silver Band had a wonderful Charity Spring Concert with the Wyndham Singers in St John’s Church and raised a fantastic £783.50 in aid of the British Red Cross Appeal for Turkey and Syria.
A varied programme of music was performed for a very appreciative audience.
The band’s selection of pieces, under the baton of new Musical Director Bob Julian, included a trombone solo, King of the Road, by bass trombonist Henry Greenshields and a feature for the whole trombone section – Sharon Cheshire. Gerry Stuckey and Henry – called Frolic for Trombones
The evening culminated with the audience joining with the band and choir in a rendition of Sweet Caroline.
Taking his inaugural concert, Bob said it was a worthy cause, the band played very well and the choir were great.
He was also very impressed with the turnout of support from the audience.
