Spring warmth and sunshine brought out the best in early season blooms entered in Wellington Spring Flower Show at the weekend. And it also attracted many visitors to the show held at Wellington Prep School.
Flower Show Secretary, Sheena Page, said, “Entries are up this year They’re much better than last year when the weather was very poor leading up to the show. We’ve had more people coming through the doors to see the entries so we’re very pleased!”
With more than 40 classes – including two for children – the school’s hall displayed a colourful array of flowering shrubs, tulips, hyacyinths, daffodils, camellias and orchids – and one particularly spectacular azalea which won First Prize for David Smith in the ‘Flowering Plant’ class.
This is the first of two flower shows organised each year in the town. The Summer Show will be held in August with details available on Wellington Flower Show’s website www.wellingtonflowershow.co.uk or from Sheena Page at firstname.lastname@example.org.
