The weather has again taken its toll on the weekend’s sporting programme with Wellington AFC’s game called off but Wellington Chiefs’ match going ahead.
The Tangerines were due to play only their second game of 2026 at home to Bradford Town in the premier division of the Jewson Western League.
But the pitch at the Carly Press Ground failed a 9am inspection and so it has been postponed.
Wellington Reserves’ trip to Winkleigh has also been cancelled because of a waterlogged pitch but the A team’s match will go ahead – they are home to Wyvern United on the 3G pitch at Court Fields School, ko 2pm.
Meanwhile, the Wildcats Ladies are away to Nailsea United Women on Sunday.
In rugby, the Chiefs return to action by hosting Wadebridge Camels in Tribute South West Regional Two tomorrow, ko 2.30pm.
They were due to play Ivybridge last weekend but, after the Athletic Ground pitch passed a morning inspection, the visitors declined to play.
The 2nds are away to Weston-super-Mare 2nds while the Vixens are without a game on Sunday.
