It’s another disappointing weekend for local sport with matches for Wellington AFC and Wellington Chiefs again called off.
In football, Brislington were due to visit to the Carly Press Ground in the premier division of the Jewson Western League.
But, after a pitch inspection and video consultation with the match referee, the game was postponed.
The Tangerines will now bid to play their first league game of 2026 on Wednesday night when they are home to Street,
The Reserves’ trip to University of Exeter 2nds this afternoon is also off because of a waterlogged pitch while there is no fixture for the A team.
Tomorrow (Sunday), the Wildcats Ladies host Middlezoy, ko 2pm, with the match having been switched to Pitch 2 at the Playing Field.
In rugby, the Chiefs had been due to make their longest trip of the season in Tribute South West Regional Two today.
But they have been hit by a string of injuries – including the entire front row – and so have had to forfeit the game at Penzance and Newlyn.
There’s no match for the 2nds but the good news is that supporters can enjoy the Six Nations double header on the big screen in the clubhouse from 2pm.
That will be followed by a Curry and Quiz Night in aid of the U16s team (doors open at 7pm, start at 7.30pm).
Tomorrow, the Vixens are away to Sidmouth.
