Wellington Town Council has agreed to purchase thermal imaging cameras for loaning to residents so they can assess what work needs doing to make their homes more energy efficient.
The council will also be publishing guidance on what residents can do to make their homes more energy efficient, where possible signposting to grants/funding.
This is an extension of a scheme run by Somerset Council which has proved so popular that there is a long waiting list for cameras.
The cameras for Wellington are expected to arrive in the Autumn.
Among other items discussed at the June town council meeting included:
- Agreed a revised scheme of delegation giving more flexibility to committees and staff to spend against agreed budgets – essential as the council takes on more responsibilities and has to react quicker to issues as they arise.
- Deferred consideration of a request from Wellington AFC to close the footpath through the Playing Field on first-team match days. It will be discussed by the Policy and Finance Committee on Monday.
- Agreed that co-opted councillors should receive the same allowance as other councillors.
- Agreed costs for cutting grass in the Green Corridor and clearing Longforth Farm allotment site.
- Agreed to sponsor the Comic Class at Wellington Carnival.
- Turned down a proposal to provide a Mayor’s Board detailing past Chairpersons and Mayors.
