Wellington FC lost 2-0 away from home against Odd Down (Bath) on Saturday 4 November but retain their 18th position in the league. The home team were in 8th place before the match and were expected to be tough opponents, especially at home.
Reports of the game suggest that Wellington gave a ‘solid performance’ which should encourage the squad once again. One stand-out feature of the game was 18 year old Exeter College student Tom Badcott named as ‘Man of the Match’. Tom plays for Devon U18s and is said to be already attracting interest from other clubs.
Wellington now have two successive games in cup ties. On Saturday 11 November they play away at Sholing in the FA Vase and on Saturday 18 November their match is at home against Westbury United in the Les Phillips Cup. This is an intriguing prospect as Westury are 1st in Division One of the Toolstation Western League and aiming for promotion to the Premier Division.
