Two friends from Wellington are putting their best foot forward by walking for worthy causes.
Here is their story …
Keep a look out for two ladies walking, carrying rucksacks decorated with an Everest Base Camp badge and prayer flags.
This will be Louise Yeoman (Comper) and Paula Wadham who continue to walk together after they achieved a trek to Everest Base Camp on October 3rd.
This amazing adventure was born out of Louise reading The Paths of Glory by Jeffrey Archer many years ago.
Never wanting to visit the Everest region of Nepal on her own, Paula agreed to go along and what a privilege it was for her to visit such an amazing country and help Louise achieve her dream.
The mission was teamed up with raising money for Kidney Research UK. Louise’s dad, now in his 80s was lucky enough to receive a live donated kidney from his brother and after over 38 years this kidney is still going strong.
So many people silently struggle with kidney disease and its only since starting this journey have we both learned of so many others, living every day with this life changing condition.

So why are they still walking after a 12-day trek through challenging terrain in Nepal? Well, we can’t stop there. Paula has a mission and Louise is going to help her achieve it.
Our next walk will be to London from Wellington, in memory and honour of Paula’s grandfather, Philip Heal, who as a young Scout walked to deliver a message to the capital.
So, hopefully, you will spot these two rucksacks being carried by Louise and Paula and know that through their friendship, they continue to walk, talk and support each other as they continue to support people that need a little bit of help themselves.
