Wellesley Park Primary School is celebrating a successful Ofsted inspection, with inspectors recognising the school as “effective and improving”.
The report also praises its strong Early Years provision – including its new nursery for children aged from nine months.
Headteacher Carly Wilkins paid tribute to her staff, saying the report “reflects the unwavering dedication, professionalism and care demonstrated by the team every day.”
She added: “It captures what we know to be true about Wellesley Park – that it is a warm, ambitious and inclusive school where children are supported to thrive.”
Mrs Wilkins said there was a great deal to celebrate in the report, which followed the school’s inspection in April.
Some of the key strengths highlighted in the report include:
- A strong safeguarding culture – inspectors recognised the open, positive culture we have built, where safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and pupils feel safe.
- Strong foundations in early years – the quality of provision, nurturing environment and strong teaching of early language and reading were particularly praised.
- Positive achievement and strong writing outcomes – pupils make good progress, with writing identified as a real strength and many achieving at the highest standards.
- Improved attendance above national average – a reflection of the relationships you build with families and the care you show in supporting pupils to attend school.
- A broad and ambitious curriculum – inspectors recognised the thought and care that has gone into developing a curriculum that builds knowledge and reflects our values.
- Strong relationships and inclusive culture – pupils are described as feeling welcomed, valued and supported, with staff going above and beyond to meet their needs.
- Leadership that is ambitious and values-driven – with clear improvements in attendance, behaviour and outcomes, and a strong focus on staff development and wellbeing.
- Pupil voice – the report also recognises the positive attitudes of our pupils, their pride in our school and the calm, purposeful learning environment you create every day.
The report also identifies next steps, particularly around:
- strengthening reading in Key Stage 2.
- ensuring greater depth of learning across the wider curriculum.
- continuing to close the gap for disadvantaged pupils.
Mrs Wilkins said: “These are areas we already know and are actively working on and this report validates the direction we are taking.
“I am immensely proud of what we have accomplished together. This outcome reflects the strength of our teamwork, our commitment, and our unwavering ‘belief in every child’.”
