Wellington Park proved a fantastic venue for one of the town’s best May Day celebrations in years. “We’ve been fantastically fortunate with today’s weather,” said Pauline Sturgess from the Friends of Wellington Park, who organised the day. Crowds of people flocked into the park from the opening at 1pm and enjoyed attractions – according to age and taste – from face painting to trad jazz.
