A sunny Sunday morning saw the ladies of Wellington Bowling Club take on Mark Moor in a first round four-way competition.
The teams competed in rinks (teams of four), triples, pairs and singles and the competition was well supported by club members who came along to encourage the Wellington ladies.
Mark Moor is a well-established club and has a good reputation but the Wellington ladies were determined to give their best.
They not only achieved their aim but won every one of the four games played.
Janet Lovell, Debbie Lane, June Anderson and Lynda Manning’s team had a close match. After 14 ends, they were level with Mark Moor, ten shots apiece, but their game moved up a gear in the final ends and they won by four shots, 17–13.
Wendy Scott, Pauline Wadham and Christine Willcocks were on top form and won comfortably, 19–8 while Angie Moore and Gill Groves were 3–0 down early on but came back well to win in style, 24–5.
In the singles, Marguerite Nichols played extremely well for a comfortable 21–12 victory.
The overall score was Wellington 81, Mark Moor 38 and the hosts collected the maximum four points from winning all their games.
At the end of a very warm morning, both teams were pleased to cool down in the clubhouse and enjoy tea and cakes together.
