Wellington Carnival Committee have announced the total collected at Saturday’s parade.
Chairman Paul Goodyer said the total was £3,200 – about the same as last year.
“The committee are very happy with this considering the financial climate and the fact the crowd appeared to be smaller this year.
“A big thank you to everyone who attended and gave to the collection and thank you to all the entrants for taking part in our Carnival and making it such a great show.”
The collection proceeds go to local organisations and worthy causes – as well as Carnival running costs – and a presentation will be arranged at a later date.
Meanwhile, both the Carnival Committee and Wellington Town Council have pledged to ensure the streets are cleaned after next year’s event.
Many people complained about the amount of rubbish left behind in our town centre after Saturday night.
