Elaine Faull, head of Court Fields, has resigned and will leave the school in three weeks at the end of the summer term to become a drama student. Her departure follows six months of radical change at Court Fields since the school was found “unsatisfactory” by Ofsted and placed in Special Measures last January.
In a letter to parents Ms Faull wrote: “I have decided to step down as Headteacher of Court Fields Community School and will be leaving at the end of the term. I feel that as the school becomes a sponsored Academy with The Castle School, it is an exciting time in Court Fields’ development and a natural time for me to look for new opportunities.
“I have explained to students that I am setting myself a new challenge and will be returning to learning myself and fulfill a long-term ambition to study acting. As the autumn term begins on 2nd September I will be commencing a course at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.”
By the end of this term Ms Faull will become the seventh teacher to leave Court Fields since the highly critical Ofsted report; three through resignation and four from voluntary redundancy. A recent HMI visit reported that the school was making good progress towards the removal of special measures.
