Year 5 cricketers from Wiveliscombe Primary School have won the Asda Kwik Cricket county championship in their age group, beating schools from all over Somerset.
The seven schools taking part in the finals had earned the right to attend by winning through their area qualifying rounds, therefore ensuring an excellent day’s cricket at the Bedminster CC ground in Bristol.
With Bathwick St Mary School from Bath and Wiveliscombe School ,representing the Taunton area winning their respective groups, the two schools proceeded to provide a thrilling county final.
In the end Wiveliscombe School emerged as the Somerset County Champions remaining unbeaten throughout the competition.
Both of the schools who contested the county final will now go forward to represent the SCB at the Regional Finals, held this year at King’s College Taunton on Tuesday 9th July.
All of the teams had a thrilling day’s cricket with the competition played in a competitive and sporting spirit.
The Somerset Cricket Board would like to thank all the schools who entered this year’s competition, the county finalists for making the day a great success and finally Bedminster CC for providing such a fantastic venue.
