Court Fields School has received some great news on the final day of term – it has been awarded an Eco-Schools Green Flag.
It takes the total number of flags awarded across our town to a remarkable FIVE.
Earlier this week, we reported that Wellington Park, Swains Nature Reserve, Fox’s Field and Wellington Basins had all been recognised.
Court Fields’ Headteacher, Mrs Polly Matthews, said “I’m delighted that the work our school, led by Mrs Becky Casson and the Eco Club, has been recognised with the award of the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award, which promotes youth-led environmental education and action.
“This accreditation acknowledges and celebrates the ecological achievements of our young people, providing them with the confidence and motivation to continue actively engaging with environmental issues throughout their lifetimes.
“Developing young people who are environmentally aware is key for all our futures, and this is a fantastic step towards securing this in our school.”
Darren Hill, Open Spaces Manager for Wellington Town Council, added: “The council would like to congratulate the students and staff of Court Fields on achieving the town’s first Schools Green Flag Award.
“It’s a fantastic milestone that reflects their commitment to environmental sustainability and environmental education.”
