Wellington Sports Centre is offering free CPR training to mark Restart a Heart Day on Friday.
The sessions will be led by a qualified first aid trainer and there will be a number of slots available between 10am and 2pm.
They will focus on how to carry out CPR and use a defibrillator when someone is having a cardiac arrest. Sessions will cover adult, child and baby CPR.
The lifesaving procedure can more than double someone’s chances of surviving an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.
Led by the Resuscitation Council UK, Restart a Heart Day is an annual initiative which aims to equip the nation with the knowledge and skills to save a life.
Wellington Sports Centre is run by Everyone Active in partnership with Somerset Council.
Gary Beasley (pictured), general manager at Everyone Active, said: “It’s vital that everyone has access to basic CPR skills. In the event of a medical emergency, being prepared is crucial.
“That’s why we feel it is important to offer these free training sessions and invite people from the local community to help them learn this lifesaving skill.”
Those wanting to attend can simply turn up and drop in to the sessions.
