Wellington and district u3a will be holding their October meeting at the Rugby Club in Corams Lane this Monday from 10.15am.
Here is their preview …
Our speaker this month is Frances Burroughs who will be talking about the ‘Wonderful World of Glass’.
An acknowledged expert and authority on glass, he is often called upon by television programmes to supply and talk about examples of the glass-blower’s craft and art.
He talks about the history of glass making from 3000BC and brings historic and valuable specimens from his own extensive collection of glass for members to examine.
An authoritative and humorous insight into a fascinating subject, this is one of the most popular of his talks, and he has often been asked to repeat it.
The u3a is primarily for anyone who is no longer in full-time work and looking to broaden their interests or try something new with like-minded folk who come together to learn, make friends, have fun and share life experience.
It’s local, social, friendly, accessible and low-cost so if you haven’t visited before why not take this opportunity to check it out – it might be just what you are looking for!
Entry is free and refreshments are available – you may have two free visits before making a commitment to membership which is very affordable at £15 per annum.
