Kingsmead’s staff and pupils have been highly commended by the influential British Council for their work in promoting a real sense of international awareness throughout the school .
Kingsmead was praised for their commitment, creativity and innovative international work including running student exchange programmes to Zambia and Germany, award winning Skype language lessons to primary schools, adult language classes and developing global citizens through challenge days and language learning.
The British Council passed on specific congratulations to Julie Elmy, Assistant Head Teacher on working so hard to co-ordinate such an impressive range of work and stated that she is a credit to the school and the wider community.
Julie commented that “At Kingsmead we are proud of the emphasis we place on helping our students develop into international citizens and are delighted that this award recognises the fantastic international activities which take place here.”
