Lakshan Edirisinghe signed off from the Playing Field in style as Wellington CC ended their home campaign with a crushing victory this afternoon (Saturday).
The Sri Lankan all-rounder (pictured above) hit a magnificent century in a 245-run win over Butleigh.
The visitors won the toss and elected to field but were left to rue the decision as Wellington piled up 384-8 in their 50 overs.
Lakshan led the way, scoring exactly 100 off only 59 balls with three sixes and 15 fours.
But it was far from a one-man show – Stian Smith knocked 63, Jacob Hurry 55 and skipper Arron Campbell 44 not out.
In reply, Butleigh were never in the hunt as Luke Desave and Toby Stirzaker tore into their reply.
They were reduced to 76-8 before a late rally eventually saw them dismissed for 130 off 25.3 overs.
Desave finished with 4-37 and Stirzaker with 4-37 with the hosts sealing their second successive victory and another 20-point haul.
