Plans to create a private gym and fitness centre in an empty business unit at Westpark 26, adjoining Chelston roundabout, have been supported by Wellington town council.
Approximately 10 or 12 new jobs, including apprentices, will be linked to the new facility, proposed by an unnamed private investor who says that research shows demand for a second private health & fitness unit (there is an existing facility at The Cleve) in a town of over 10,000 people.
Work at the site will involve putting in a mezzanine floor inside the unit to utilise the full height of the building.
Councillors recommended that Taunton Deane planners approve the project.
