A community project to make dragonflies for St John’s Church in Wellington to celebrate the Resurrection has been helped along by the pupils at St John’s C of E Primary School. Every single child at St John’s made a dragonfly which meant that the school was able to donate almost 200 dragonflies to the church. Altogether, St John’s Church has had 2000 made which are now displayed.
A spokesperson for the project said, “It’s been a really lovely community project with dragonflies sent in from local schools, care homes, from people in their own homes and from lots of local drop-in sessions which have been run at the church.
“The project was organised by Fiona Brown. The dragonflies were put up for Easter and are staying in the church until the end of June. As a school, St John’s will be having a mini service, run by Reverend Julie, to celebrate the achievements of our fantastic community.”
A story about dragonflies is commonly used in schools to help children when someone they love dies.
