Wellington Town Council says it is “delighted” that Somerset Council has asked it to take on the maintenance of the cemetery at Rockwell Green.
A spokesperson said: “We know how important it is for people with loved ones buried there to see it being looked after and cared for and we will apply the same high standards there that we set for the rest of the town.
“It will take a few more visits to get the area to the standard we want it to be and we appreciate your patience with this.
“We took on the maintenance two weeks ago and the photos show how the cemetery is looking today. Aside from being very dry (like everywhere else!) we are already pleased with the progress made.
“To be clear – we are we are responsible for grass cutting and general grounds maintenance while Somerset Council retains responsibility for the cemetery as a whole.”
