Transition Town Wellington’s Water Week exhibition opens at the Pop-Up Shop, Fore Street today (Monday) from 10am to 4pm and runs daily.
Do pop in and learn more about our waterways, check out the water themed artwork on display, find out more about a special event on Saturday, and chat to the water guardian team.
The week ends with an afternoon of talks, discussion and a film presentation on Saturday at Wellington Arts Centre, Eight Acre Lane.
There will be talks with time for questions and answers from 2pm to 4.30pm.
Speakers will be: Gideon Amos MP; Zoe Connelly, Evidence and Engagement Officer for Westcountry Rivers Trust; Vicky Whitworth of Kit Brook Restoration Project and Friends of the River Axe; and Gill Westcott of Friends of the River Exe.
Then, from 5pm to 7pm, there will be a film I am the River, The River is Me concluding with a discussion session about the Rights for Nature movement.
Refreshments will be available and everyone is welcome.

Tickets are free, but if possible a donation of £10 (cash on the door) will help to cover costs and support the work of the Water Guardians.

Join us for a one-off extra special outdoor TTW Bookworms event to meet and talk with Jay Griffiths about her thrilling new book How Animals Heal Us.
We’ll gather on Fox’s Field forest garden. Bring a bottle and something to nibble and to sit on unless it’s raining madly in which case venue will be at Anita’s house; 66 Springfield Road.
Bring cash to buy books if you like – otherwise it’s all freeeee! Feel free to circulate to other friends and family. It’ll be a lovely evening!

Friday, 18th July, from 9am to 12noon: Community Gardening at Fox’s Field
To do whatever needs doing to prep the forest garden for the visit from Britain in Bloom – likely weeding, cutting some grass with shears or scythe, laying some wood chip mulch, and planting a few extra plants!

Tuesday, 22nd July, from 9am to 12noon: Community Gardening at Longacre
This session will focus on scything and making sure the soft fruit is easy to pick, and the picnic area is big enough for the summer event on the 26th!
